so typical.

I was reading a poll of 1000 people that answered the question "What was (is) your favourite subject in school?'

The results were, well, so typical.

The gender break down was that women significantly preferred Literature and Art more than men, while men very significantly preferred math, science, and history more than woman.

Combined, math was the favourite subject, followed by art, science, history, then literature (with only 13%)

But what interests me most, why are men more math and science oriented and women more literature and art oriented? Now, I understand that I am speaking in stereotypes and that people break the mold, but why on a large scale is this true?

I've heard that white men perform better and prefer history because it is white male-dominated, where as women and minorities tend to do poorly. (There are obvious exceptions, I would consider myself one of them. This is most likely because I am quite interested in white men. = ) )

Just my musings. I don't have any great revelations to share, unfortunately.
