Fried rice and debates.

I am sitting at my computer after a long day with a bowl of fried rice and chopsticks. In retrospect I have realized that I have eaten fried rice 4 times in the past two days.

Spring break has come to an end, and I feel has passed by far too quickly for my taste, and without nearly as much sleep as I hoped for. (But can I ever get as much sleep as I truly hope for?)

I started my new job as a hostess at Shogun (the Japanese Hibachi restaurant) last weekend. I work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, for a combined 14 + hours. I am enjoying the work and I particularly enjoy working with a diverse group of people and having the opportunity to interact with so many unique people every day. A few especially interesting recollections...

A little adopted Chinese girl name Lilly, who was two-years-old, was running past my station when her shoes fell off. She quickly sat down to refasten her shoes as her mother approached. We struck up a conversation about what a wonder that a two year old could put her shoes on independently. Her mother then commented "Yes, she loves her shoes. She has about 40 pairs." To which I replied, "I have a feeling you will regret that in a few years." We both laughed.

The same night, a stretch limo pulled up in front of the restaurant. Out filed 8 girls between the ages of 7-9 years old. Quite a pricy birthday celebration..especially for an 8 year old.

Last night was Prom night. A party of 15 handsomely dressed couples came in, and fitting to the stereotype, between all of them, they left a tip of $10. That was disappointing.

Between weekends, I spent my days in Spartanburg and Greenville South Carolina with David at a debate tournament. Quite interesting, to say the least. The topic for debate is abolishing/significantly changing NATO. It almost makes me wish I was still in high school. But only for a half second that passes quite quickly.

Studying beckons...
