On Monday afternoon, my dad and I walked into the leasing office to check my status on the waiting list. As Stacy, the front-liner of the office browsed through the list...
"Caroline what? Now how do you spell that? I don't see it...ok, let me check again. How old are you?"
Blank stare.
"I was not expecting you to say that."
Because I was indeed "just a baby" (or "just a pup" according to some...)the management office realized how mandatory it was for me to live on campus.
As we sat in the office waiting to find out about a dorm, several students walked in saying "I was hoping I could get housing.." all of which got the same reply, "The waiting list will be open on the 13th and you can try back then."
Needless to say, they found me a room I could move into on Tuesday morning at 8:30, right before my 9:30 Pre-calculus class.
Here are some pictures of my apartment...

After a class-filled Tuesday, I crashed, and I woke up Wednesday morning with a ravenous appetite (must have been those miles of walking to class and through parking garages). So I decided to eat breakfast, only to find my barren pantry shelf held a lonely pack of Thai curry noodles...well, I'll go take a shower and run out to get something to eat. As I'm de-robing, I find the shower curtainless...as usual, my stubborness got the best of me and I decided to take a shower anyways. I assume that one can imagine what this resulted in. Not feeling like doing too much at this point, I sit down at my computer to check my homework assignments, gung-ho about being productive and getting off to a positive and proactive start at my first week of college. My ingenius plan was unfortunately interrupted by the lack of an ethernet cord. Well...there went all of Wednesday afternoon. Needless to say, I tackled all of my obstacles with vigor and determination, and since shopping was involved, I was hardly complaining.
Fast forward to Saturday morning.
I'm sitting in my room, glancing over my french flash cards realizing how swift, over-whelming, and empowering this past week has been. I am enjoying all of my classes, I love most of my professors, and my three roommates (Mandy, Amanda, and Jillian) have been very friendly and helpful as I acquaint myself with college life. I'm getting to know people, and I have yet to walk to a class where I haven't seen someone that I know or I meet someone new. (I've found being lost really brings people closer...haha)
I'm excited about the adventures I will have and the obstacles I will overcome.
I'll leave you with a song...
There’s a dream that I see, I pray it can be
Look cross the land, shake this land
A wish or a command
I Dream that I see, don’t kill it, it’s free
